Printing table QR codes that always scan

Size, contrast and placement tips so every guest's camera picks up your table code first time.

A QR code that doesn't scan is a guest waving for a server. These simple rules keep your table codes working.

Print it big enough

Aim for at least 3 × 3 cm for the code itself; 5 cm or more is better on larger tables where phones are held further away.

Keep strong contrast and a clear border

Dark code on a light background scans best. Leave a plain margin around the code and avoid placing it over patterns or photos.

Mind glare and wear

Glossy lamination under bright lights can hide the code from cameras — matte finishes work better. Replace stands that get scratched or stained.

Test every table, and replace leaked codes

Scan each code with a couple of different phones before service. If a code is ever copied or shared outside the restaurant, regenerate it from the dashboard: the old one stops working immediately, and you print the new one.
